My fishing season 2023

All my fishing adventures in Sweden are strictly dependent on the four seasons.

Almost every time, it starts with sea trout coast fishing during the first winter/early spring months and continues with little random fishing trips throughout May, adapting to boat fishing for the rest of the calendar year.

The fishing season in 2023 was focused not only on my private fishing sessions but mostly on developing and expanding my guiding services. Thanks to my never-ending passion for nature photography, you can enjoy some pictures from all the different fishing trips as well.

My ordinary start to the year 2023 brings me a lot of fun during all the sea trout coastal trips with my fly rods. A few guiding tours during this short and cold season make me really happy because some of my new clients caught their first sea trouts or white fish ever. It happened also that one of my guests caught three different species the same day! It’s so cool to see the customer happiness because of a good day fishing :).

Actually, every sea trout fishing season is different, mostly because of the weather conditions, new fishing spots, achievements, and new people joining the fishing adventures. As we usually say: new year – new opportunities. This 2023 year was kind of special to me because of the amount of achievement I’ve been lucky to make. Most important for me were: the drone shot of sea trout catching with a fly rod (made by myself in February), a new profile picture on social media thanks to using the GoPro dome, catching the “Grand Slam” three times (3 different fish species the same day), catching two seatrout at the same time (2 flies on the leader), and 5 new YouTube productions.

I’m so thankful for this amazing 2023 fly rod season. A total of 48 sea trouts, 13 whitefish, and 10 pikes caught on my own made flies let me know that I am developing in a good direction.

This beautiful May!

Usually, after the sea trout season, I try to focus on those fishing species that have no spawning time at the end of April and in May. It all depends on Mother Nature!

One of my few years old traditions is a trip to beautiful Vättern Lake. Imagine a 135 km long lake with crystal clear water, surrounded by forests and natural cliffs, and all these amazing-looking arctic trouts, lake trouts, and salmon waiting for your bait. It’s just a trip that has to be made every year!

This year, in the middle of May, I spent a really relaxing weekend there with my wife Beata and our family dog Rocky on board. Trolling was the main fishing method those days, and some small adjustments to adapt my vertically organized boat for trolling methods succeeded in a way that 8 rods were ready to set at the same time. Two fishing days with 5-6 hours each brought a lot of fun and unforgettable memories from this spectacularly beautiful place. I was lucky to catch a “Vättern’s grand slam” as well, and the first-ever salmon from the lake makes this trip very valuable!

Summer and Autumn Season 🙂

The main boat fishing season starts every year on the 1st of June. Both pikes and zanders are after their spawning time, and the temperature gives you the opportunity to spend long evenings in your boat in comfortable weather conditions. This essential feeling of freedom on your vessel, in comparison to the surrounding nature, is just addicting! I always have this emotion of being a small puzzle piece in the whole universe on one side, but at the same time, I have the inseparable feeling of being a part of nature.

The summer and autumn season of 2023 gave me quite a big bunch of fishing memories, which I would like to separate into two different parts: my own fishing adventures and the guiding fishing tours.

My private fishing trips are starting to become quite rare in comparison to my developing fishing business with clients from all over Europe and the USA. This is the main reason why all of my free fishing time is so valuable right now. The year 2023 didn’t bring me any personal best, but a lot of important skills in the new live technology fishing method. Actually, some pikes up to 112cm and zanders up to 95cm have visited my boat during the season, but (as is normal in the fishing sport) all the potential PB-bigguns didn’t want to bite my baits.

I’m so proud to give my fishing clients a lot of fun and all the positive fishing memories this year. A lot of new personal bests, grateful handshakes, and pure smiles on different faces are still in my mind. This means a lot to me, maybe even much more than my own potential PB records, which I sacrificed during those times. Personally, sharing the passion, teaching the new generation of ethical anglers, and making the best fishing days in the year/life are so addictive that I would like to live 100 years more just to be able to do this!

I’m looking forward for the new 2024 fishing season – hope it will be extraordinary…, like my every fishing year 🙂
